L'A. montre que ce commencement n'est pas un hasard: il définit un point de départ qui prétend s'imposer comme nécessité intelligible et comme premier intelligible. En fait, il sous-entend, pour s'affirmer, l'hypoihèse paradoxale d'une pluralité ou d'une dissémination absolues, dont il démontre par l'absurde l'impossibilité. L'article manifeste ensuite l'intérêt phénoménologique du théorème, quand on le réfère à la plus récente histoire de nos pensées: d'une part, il illustre certaines tentatives modernes de pluralisme inconditionné; d'autre part, il met en question le prétendu radicalisme de toute pensée de l'être, sous quelque forme que ce soit. A logical analysis of the theorem of The One, a study of its presuppositions and possible further developments. This theorem is put forth at the very beginning of Proclus' Elements of Theology, the importance of which for a history of Western philosophy is well known. The author shows that this way of opening the book was not accidental : it sets forth a starting point that claims to be an intelligible necessity and the very primary intelligible notion. Actually, in order to assert itself it goes on the paradoxical assumption of an absolute plurality or dissemination, the impossibility of which it demonstrates by a reductio ad absurdum. The article shows then the phenomenological interest of the theorem, when it is related to the most recent history of our thinking : on the one side it illustrates some modern attempts at an unconditioned pluralism ; on the other side it questions the so-called radicalism of every notion of being, whatever expression it may be given. | ||
