En particulier, la suite des versets est étroitement parallèle au texte d'Isaïe 45, 18-25. Le contact avec la philosophie a permis de donner une expression plus incisive à des pensées dont la Bible offre des attestations dispersées, comme l'autosuffisance divine. Le discours n'est pas en opposition réelle avec les épitres pauliniennes. Toutefois il aborde le paganisme d'un autre point de vue et il atteste que tout n'y est pas erreur totale. The speech before the Areopagus is permeated unquestionably with greek philosophical thought, which impressed the Hellenists, and at the same time contains an essentially biblical way of thinking the sources of which can be traced in the Old Testament. In particular the sequence of verses is closely parallel to the text of Isaiah 45, 18-25. But the contact with philosophical thought has given more precision to the expression of ideas which can be found throughout the Bible, like, for instance the self-sufficiency of God. The speech is not really in opposition to the pauline epistles ; still, it approaches paganism from another point of view and claims that it is not completely wrong. | ||
