Ce qu'impose la nature, prise selon le bien commun de l'espèce, c'est la continuation du genre humain : ce qui est contre nature, c'est donc soit la prévention totale des naissances, soit la surproduction, qui aboutissent à mettre un terme à l'espèce. De plus, l'espèce manifeste dans la poursuite de son bien commun une grande flexibilité: les couples ont le droit d'user en la matière d'une grande souplesse. Le contrôle des naissances n'est donc pas contraire à la nature et immoral, même pratiqué avec des méthodes artificielles ; seule est immorale la prévention totale des naissances, même à l'aide de méthodes naturelles. The aim of the author is to show the possible morality of artificial birth control, while remaining within the framework of the doctrine of the natural law, and thus relying on the same principles as those who oppose contraception. What nature, in the sense of the common good of the species, demands is the continuation of the human species : thus that which is against nature is the total prevention of births or the over-reproduction, which would put an end to the species. Furthermore, just as the species shows great flexibility in the pursuit of its common good, so the couples have the right to a similar freedom. Thus birth control is not contrary to nature and immoral, even if it is practiced with artificial methods; all that is immoral is the total prevention of births, even if natural methods are used. | ||
