RT Article T1 The Protestant Ethic: A Mid-Twentieth Century View JF Sociological analysis VO 25 IS 1 SP 34 OP 40 A1 Wagner, Helmut 1956- LA English YR 1964 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/1823089224 AB Weber's thesis maintains its great historical significance, but has lost most of its conceptual and predictive value for an analysis of present problems; it is essentially misplaced when applied to the problems of Protestant-Catholic differences in present-day America. A number of hypotheses are suggested which could serve as an initial guide for a fresh study of the problem. Both American Protestantism and American Catholicism have been undergoing some important transitions in the relationship between religious and economic spheres of life. DO 10.2307/3710541
