La «religiosité rebelle» de ces poètes de la «post-avant-garde» (selon les termes de Paz) s’exprime en suivant deux voies principales: d’une part, l’approfondissement de l’expérience intérieure d’un monde privé de la certitude de l’expérience de Dieu mais cependant habité par le désir du divin; d’autre part, la recherche de justice en lien avec des valeurs morales et spirituelles dont le modèle reste christique. La figure du Christ offre en effet un support imaginaire et intertextuel privilégié pour cette double quête. Dans le cadre de cet article, on se limitera à étudier deux exemples paradigmatiques de la «post-avant-garde» chilienne: la quête mystique de David Rosenmann-Taub et la revendication de la justice chez Mahfud Massis. Ce qui frappe chez le premier, c’est l’inventivité poétique d’une langue expérimentale qui cherche à dire l’expérience du divin dans un monde de «l’après», un monde post-métaphysique. Quant à Massís, il se situe au croisement d’influences nietzschéennes et potentiellement de la théologie de la libération ; son «Christ noir» veut marquer une rupture avec une religiosité aliénante au profit d’un Jésus engagé dans une lutte active contre l’injustice et l’oppression.Children of the Mire In the last pages of his essay (1974), Octavio Paz focuses on the generation of poets who succeeded the historical avant-garde. The 'rebellious religiosity' of these 'post-avant-garde' poets (in Paz’s words) is expressed along two main lines: on the one hand, the deepening of the inner experience of a world deprived of the certainty of the experience of God but nevertheless inhabited by the desire for the divine; on the other hand, the search for justice in connection with moral and spiritual values whose model remains Christ-like. The figure of Christ offers a privileged imaginary and intertextual support for this double quest. In this article, we will limit ourselves to studying two paradigmatic examples of the Chilean 'post-avant-garde': David Rosenmann-Taub’s mystical quest and Mahfud Massís’ demand for justice. What is striking about the former is the poetic inventiveness of an experimental language that seeks to express the experience of the divine in an 'after' world, a post-metaphysical world. As for Massís, he is at the crossroads of Nietzschean influences and potentially liberation theology; his 'Black Christ' seeks to mark a break with an alienating religiosity in favour of a Jesus engaged in an active struggle against injustice and oppression. | ||
