This article investigates a series of texts stipulating the terms of some of the peaces. These texts mostly survive as marginalia or additions to the end or beginning of seemingly unrelated manuscripts. It is argued that the peaces are evidence of how local actors connected with the larger-scale conflicts of the time; and that the apparently informal survival of the peaces relates to performative practices of inscribing short texts into important codices. The conclusion situates the peaces in a broader discussion about sacralised conflict and political communication during the so-called Investiture Contest and includes a comparison with equivalent texts in the later 12th century. | ||

Au cours des décennies suivantes, dans le cadre des conflits qui secouent le royaume, divers acteurs puissants créent des associations de paix, en adaptant et en transformant celles-ci selon leurs propres intérêts. Le présent article analyse une série de textes définissant les termes de plusieurs paix. Ces textes se sont principalement transmis sous la forme de marginalia ou d’ajouts au début ou à la fin de manuscrits apparemment sans rapport avec les questions de paix. Nous faisons l’hypothèse que ces textes sont un indice de la manière dont les acteurs locaux se sont mis en lien avec des conflits de plus grande échelle. Nous soutenons aussi que la survie apparemment informelle de ces paix est liée aux pratiques performatives d’inscription de textes courts dans des codices de grande importance. La conclusion replace ces paix dans des débats plus vastes relatifs à la place du sacré dans les conflits et à propos de la communication politique à l’époque de la Querelle des Investitures. Elle inclut aussi une comparaison avec des textes similaires de la seconde moitié du 12e s. | ||

Diese Texte sind zumeist als Marginalien oder Ergänzungen am Ende oder Anfang scheinbar unverwandter Manuskripte überliefert. Es wird dargelegt, dass diese Texte Beweis liefern, wie lokale Akteure zu den gröβeren Konflikten ihrer Zeit sich verhielten, und dass die scheinbar ungersgelte Überlieferung der Texte mit der gebräuchlichen Praxis, kurze Texte zu wichtigen Codices hinzuzufügen, verbunden ist. In der Schlussfolgerung werden die Frieden in einer breiteren Erörterung von sakralisiertem Konflikt und politischer Kommunikation während des sogenannten Investiturstreits situiert und mit ähnlichen Texten des späteren 12. Jahrhunderts verglichen. | ||
