It is argued that not only the Manichaean Bêma Festival and other confessional instances seem to be at the background of Augustine’s narratio, but also typical Manichaean concepts such as "the Call and the Answer," "Jesus the Youth," "the Maiden," etc. The article winds up with ten conclusions, inter alia stating that-according to Manichaean thinking-the singing child in Augustine’s story represents Jesus, as does mater Monnica.Cet article s’intéresse aux éléments manichéens dans le récit que fait Augustin de sa conversion (conf. 8, 13-30), en se concentrant à la fois sur les textes dans lesquels le manichéisme et ses adhérents sont explicitement mentionnés, et, plus encore, sur les détails, expressions et figures caractéristiques dans lesquelles des enseignements et concepts manichéens semblent jouer un rôle important. Il fait apparaître comme trame de fond de la narratio d’Augustin, non seulement la fête manichéenne du Bêma et d’autres célébrations confessionnelles, mais aussi des concepts manichéens typiques tels que « l’Appel et la Réponse », « l’Enfant-Jésus », « la Vierge », etc. L’article se termine par dix conclusions, affirmant entre autres que - selon la doctrine manichéenne - l’enfant qui chante dans le récit d’Augustin représente Jésus, comme mater représente Monique. | ||
