The research question of whether factor structures may vary across types was investigated by examining the factor structures of three empirically derived religious types. Data from a sample of German students responding to the DeJong et al. (1976) Religiosity Scale were cluster analyzed (Ward, 1963). Three types resulted: the Nontraditional Humanists, the Traditionally Religious, and the Religiously Detached. A confirmatory maximum likelihood factor analysis (Joreskog, 1971) was performed to test the statistical differences between the structure of religiosity for the three types. The results indicated that the types do not have a common factor structure. Implications of finding different structures of religiosity are discussed. | ||
