The contemporary failure to love is rooted in traditional Christian teachings about agape; thus, it is precisely "for the love of God" that I have proposed the creative energy of eros as an alternative interpretation of God's relation to the world. Moreover, the real and important argument between Grant and feminist theologians is not an argument between scripturally grounded theologians and Enlightenment secularists; it is a fully theolog- ical argument between dualists and transformationists.
