A chaque division du zodiaque correspond un portrait-type, physique et spirituel. A chaque individu sont attribuées neuf parts, lumineuses ou ténébreuses, dont la proportion varie en fonction de l'horoscope. La subdivision des signes du zodiaque en décans d'une part, la détermination de l'horoscope d'un individu à partir de sa conception (et non de sa naissance) d'autre part permettent de rendre compte du fonctionnement de ce dispositif. Dans cette interprétation, l'opposition entre lumière et ténèbres dont témoigne 4Q186, loin de relever d'un dualisme absolu tel celui qu'atteste l'Instruction sur les deux esprits, indique seulement une opposition entre le plus et le moins donc un dualisme relatif. Despite its fragmentary state, the repetitive and systematic character of this text of zodiacal physiognomy allows the reconstruction of the general organization of its different constituent units. A physical and spiritual description of individuals corresponds to each division of the zodiac. Nine parts of light or darkness are attributed to every individual, and the proportion varies according to their horoscopes. On the one hand the subdivision of the zodiacal signs into decans and, on the other hand, the determination of horoscopes by the moment of conception (and not that of birth) permit to understand the functioning of this zodiacal physiognomy. The opposition presented by this arrangement is not one of completely luminous versus completely dark (which would indicate radical dualism), but rather an opposition between the more and the less. Thus, if 4Q186 has something to do with dualism, it cannot be with an absolute dualism such as that found in the Instruction on the Two Spirits, but only with a relative dualism. | ||
