Both palaces are similar from the architectural-conceptual point of view. On the other hand, the planning and design of the 'Promontory Palace' recalls the Timonium or Timoneion in Alexandria, Egypt, and the Northern Palace probably reflects Hellenistic architectural conceptions and inspirations. Furthermore, these two monuments also reflect Herod's hubris, pretension, megalomaniac ambitions and personal taste.\n4207 Deux des palais d’Hérode, le «palais sur le promontoire» à Césarée Maritime, et le Palais Nord à Massada, sont des complexes architecturaux en dénivelés, bâtis sur des terrasses naturelles, et à usage privé (à l’exception du niveau supérieur du «palais sur le promontoire»). Les deux palais sont similaires, du point de vue de leur concept architectural. Par ailleurs, le plan du «palais sur le promontoire» rappelle le Timoneion d’Alexandrie, et le Palais Nord reflète probablement des conceptions architecturales hellénistiques.
