AB Hérode le Grand (roi de 40 à 4 av. J.-C.) a voulu répandre une image de luimême propre à accroître son prestige auprès des Juifs. À partir d'indices fournis par Flavius Josèphe ainsi que par l'étude des symboles que le roi fit apparaître sur ses monnaies, nous tentons de reconstituer les grands thèmes de la propagande hérodienne. Herod the Great wanted to circulate an image of himself which would increase his prestige among the Jews. From clues given by Flavius Josephus, as from the study of the symbols that the king displayed on his coins, we propose to show the main themes of the Herodian propaganda.
