Ce sont les seuls versets bibliques où l'on rencontre l'expression : « Suis-je à la place de Dieu, moi ? » Ces occurrences nous instruisent non seulement sur la façon dont a été effectuée la rédaction finale de la Genèse (au moyen de reprises sémantiques créant des effets d'échos) mais aussi sur l'intention théologique globale de la Genèse. Il y a bien un lien entre le don de la vie et le pardon, questions qui, depuis Adam, Ève et Caïn, propulsent le récit. Et si l'être humain ne peut vouloir se mettre « à la place de Dieu », il n'en dispose pas moins d'une vraie capacité à créer et à pardonner. Joseph est bien le sommet de la trajectoire éthique et théologique de la Genèse. Que cet achèvement du récit du premier livre de la Loi ait été rendu possible grâce à la technique du « roman » égyptien ne fait que souligner combien Israël a su s'inspirer de la sagesse des Nations pour mieux se comprendre. The parallel between Gen 30:2 and Gen 50:19 has often been noticed by scholars, ancient and modern. They are the only biblical verses containing the rhetorical question : "Am I in God's place ?" Those two verses help us not only to better understand the way the final redaction of the book of Genesis was done (creating some verbal links between the so-called patriarchal cycles) but also shed some light on the theological intention of the whole book. There is a relationship between the gift of life and the gift of forgiveness. Those questions have driven the story since Adam, Eve and Cain. While it is true that the human being should not want to take God's place, he nevertheless has a true capacity to create and forgive. Joseph is the real summit of the biblical theological trajectory. That this ending was made possible by the borrowing of an Egyptian tale only shows how Israel was able to use the Nations' wisdom to better understand itself. | ||
