The method of analysis is comparative by nature and draws upon ethnographic research in tribally organized cultures from Nigeria to Pakistan. After outlining the distinction between lineage and clan, the discussion pursues a detailed examination of the social units and inter-group relationships located within each of these two levels. Various strategies utilized by minimal lineage groups are investigated next, including fertility and marriage strategies. A review of some judicial aspects and procedures followed in a modern kinship-based society helps to corroborate the understanding of Exod 20:12-17 as lineage law. Cette étude examine la seconde moitié du Décalogue, Ex. 20, 12-17 // Deut. 5, 16-21, considérée comme vestige d'une ancienne loi sur le lignage. Cette loi devait promouvoir la solidarité à l'intérieur du noyau familial, en s'attachant à préserver le patrimoine et la pureté sexuelle de ses membres. On replace cette brève liste de règlements dans un contexte social et non pas chronologique. La méthode est comparative par nature, et s'appuie sur l'ethnographie des civilisations tribales, du Nigeria au Pakistan. Après avoir souligné la distinction entre lignage et clan, la discussion s'attache à un examen détaillé des unités sociales et des relations internes à ces deux niveaux. On considère ensuite les diverses stratégies mises en œuvre par les groupes à lignage minimal, dont le cas de la fécondité et du mariage. L'examen de quelques aspects juridiques et jurisprudentiels suivis par des sociétés modernes fondées sur le lien familial corrobore l'interprétation d'Ex. 20, 12-17 comme loi sur le lignage. | ||
