L'article développe, en accord avec une suggestion de J. Jeremías, la compréhension suivante de 13,10 : «Celui qui s'est purifié par le bain pascal n'a nul besoin de se laver sinon les pieds qu'il vient de salir en route.» Cela est en accord avec l'intérêt de l'évangéliste pour les fêtes juives, et en particulier pour la Pâque juive. Sur cet arrière-fond juif, l'évangéliste greffe sa propre compréhension symbolique du bain pascal et du lavement des pieds. The textual problem in Jn 13,10 must be solved independently of the literary links between the foot-washing and the explanations of Jesus. Different arguments are given in favour of the long lesson. With the help of an analysis of eight commentaries, current views that have been proposed are criticized. The article develops, in accordance with J. Jeremías' suggestion, the following understanding of 13,10 : «One who has purified himself thanks to the Passover bath does not need to wash, except for the feet which have become dusty».This accords with the evangelist's interest in Jewish feasts and especially in the Passover. To this Jewish background the evangelist adds his own symbolic understanding of both the Passover bath and the foot-washing. | ||
