Mais la polémique contre les sanctuaires réduisit l'ensemble à l'histoire de la destruction de Sodome, épisode le plus souvent cité par la suite, et déjà à partir du VIIIe siècle, quand survint en Palestine le fameux séisme mentionné par Amos. Abraham obtint la priorité à la fin de l'époque royale, à cause de la promesse de la terre. Mais la triade généalogique traditionnelle n'est pas citée avant l'Exil. In Genesis, the Jacob-Israel narrative cycle is the oldest. That of Abraham-Isaac began in Judah in the early years of the monarchy. But polemic against the sanctuaries reduced the whole to the story of the destruction of Sodom, the episode most often referred to later, and already as early as the 8th century, when the famous earthquake mentioned by Amos took place. Abraham took the first place at the end of the monarchical period, because of the promise of the land. But the traditional genealogical triad is not referred to before the Exile. |
