Le Temple, comme d'autres thèmes cultuels, fait l'objet d'une sévère critique et d'une nécessaire spiritualisation. De plus, le texte lui-même, et en particulier le chapitre 16 (B 16,4), désigne les véritables coupables : ce sont les pagano-chrétiens, que la Lettre appelle les «serviteurs» des Romains destructeurs. In two studies co-authored by Shukster and Richardson, the two try to give evidence that the Epistle of Barnabas was reacting vigorously to the polically realistic prospect of rebuilding the Temple. This reaction may be the central theme of the polemic. A detailed analysis of the text forces one to temper this judgement. The Temple, as with other cultual themes, is the object of a strong criticism and of a necessary spiritualisation. In addition, the text itself, and particularly ch. 16 (B 16,4), designates the true culprit : the Pagan-Christians, whom the Epistle called the «servants» of the destroyer Romans. | ||
