Summary: | Scholars have noted many echoes between the stories of the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt and the salvation of the Persian Jews in the Hebrew version of the Esther tale. This discussion notes precise links in the dating, timing and nature of key events in both reports of the deliverance of the Jews. These account for the fact that Haman's edict against the Jews was issued on the 13th of Nisan and emphasise the underlying theme of the Esther tale. |
