La première marque les étapes décisives de l'histoire. Le second se dédouble en « schéma narratif » et en « schéma enumeratif », et leur disposition selon une alternance régulière semble répondre à une intention théologique précise : tandis que le premier schéma souligne davantage la continuité de l'histoire et l'enchaînement des périodes, le second suggère davantage une vision universaliste du monde. Ainsi s'élabore une théologie qui reconnaît, à l'intérieur d'un large universalisme, la mise en oeuvre d'une sélection progressive, notamment à l'époque patriarcale, à travers le choix des cadets, Isaac et Jacob, pour aboutir à la constitution des « douze fils de Jacob » appelés à devenir « le peuple d'Israël ». L'histoire de la promesse s'insère à l'intérieur de l'histoire humaine dont Israël constitue le centre théologique. Les écarts de certaines généalogies, notamment patriarcales, à l'intérieur de ce système, s'expliquent en fonction de cette visée théologique et non à partir de la thèse d'un Pg réduit à un statut de simple couche rédactionnelle. The structure of the patriarchal Story (Pg) in the Book of Genesis seems to be based on two indicators: the regular recurrence of the formula 'éllèh tôledol, and the genealogical schema. The former marks the decisive stages of the story. The latter divides into a "narrative schema" and an "enumerative schema", and their regular alternation seems to answer to a precise theological intention: whereas the first schema underlines rather the continuity of the story and the connexion between periods, the second suggests more an universalist vision of the world. In this way a theology is worked out which recognises, within a broad universalism, a progressive selection process, notably in the patriarchal period, running through the choice of the younger sons, Isaac and Jacob, and ending in the constitution of the "twelwe sons of Jacob" called to become "the people of Israel". The history of the promise is inserted within human history, with Israel as its theological centre. The discording of certain genealogies, notably patriarchal, within this system, is explained in terms of this theological perspective and not on the basis of a Pg reduced to the status of a simple redactional layer. | ||
