The letter of ps. Barnabas attempts a three-fold reading of the Psalter, prophetic, typological, and spiritual. Thereby the letter tries to show that only Christians know how to read the Old Testament. They must avoid falling into the error of the Jews which consisted in interpreting the Scriptures literally and they will then discover that the Psalter reveals the main aspects of the Christian mystery. | ||
