| Σύνοψη: | Although scholars of religion are at long last recognizing the phenomenal growth of global Pentecostalism, less attention has been paid to the revitalization and growth of pentecostalism in North America. For more than a century, Pentecostalism has witnessed a steady stream of revivals, big ones and little ones, that have been a largely unrecognized force in reshaping American Christianity. Joshua Ziefle addresses this deficiency in scholarship with his in-depth assessment of the legacy of David du Plessis, a man known as “Mr. Pentecost,” who was a major player in the mid-twentieth-century pentecostal revivals. These revivals in both Protestantism and Catholicism are often referred to as pentecostalism's “second wave” or the “Charismatic Movement. |
