For more than a century, Pentecostalism has witnessed a steady stream of revivals, big ones and little ones, that have been a largely unrecognized force in reshaping American Christianity. Joshua Ziefle addresses this deficiency in scholarship with his in-depth assessment of the legacy of David du Plessis, a man known as “Mr. Pentecost,” who was a major player in the mid-twentieth-century pentecostal revivals. These revivals in both Protestantism and Catholicism are often referred to as pentecostalism's “second wave” or the “Charismatic Movement.
