520 | |a The influence of religion on attitudes toward abortion is now a well-studied phenomenon. Past research has consistently shown that religious affiliation and personal religiosity are related to abortion attitudes. In this study, we have extended the extant literature by examining variation in the effect of personal religiosity on attitudes toward abortion across faith groups and across contexts of religious stability/change and endogamy/exogamy. Using data from the NORC General Social Surveys, we found that the strength of the religiosity-abortion attitude relationship does indeed vary as predicted across faith groups, but that the influence of religious stability/change and endogamy/exogamy on this relationship are not as pronounced as anticipated. | ||
