As part of his inscription, Māṯ mentions that he prepared offerings on behalf of "the brother of the ruler," a Semitic official who also appears in Egyptian inscriptions from Serabit el-Khadem dating to the reign of Amenemhat III ( 1831-1786 B.C.E. ). The reference to this individual constitutes the first internal evidence for dating the early alphabetic inscriptions from Serabit el-Khadem and suggests that Sinai 349 dates between 1827 and 1818 B.C.E. | ||
