|a Dans l’Église catholique, les conciles provinciaux sont rares, tant comme évènements de la vie ecclésiale que comme objets d’étude. En théorie, ils ont pourtant toujours été reconnus comme importants, y compris au concile Vatican II. L’auteur commence par un parcours historique, puis analyse le concile provincial de Lille (2013-2015), pour enfin présenter plusieurs enjeux ecclésiologiques qui sont autant de questions que de perspectives. La conclusion est que la synodalité déployée dans un concile provincial permet un triple renforcement : de l’Église locale, de l’épiscopat et de l’Église comprise comme peuple de Dieu et temple de l’Esprit.

|a In the Catholic Church, provincial councils are rare, both as events in ecclesial life and as objects of study. In theory, nonetheless, they have always been recognized as important, including during Vatican II. The author will begin by setting out a historical outline, then analyse the provincial council of Lille (2013-2015), and finally present several ecclesiological issues that are both questions and perspectives. The conclusion is that the synodality deployed in a provincial council enables triple re-inforcement: of the local Church, of the bishopric and of the Church understood as the people of God and temple of the Spirit.
