|a Pourquoi les reconstructions critiques actuelles du texte grec de Rm 5,1 portent-elles ἔχομεν et non ἔχωμεν ? Sans un détour par la critique textuelle, il est difficile de percevoir combien les consensus philologiques sont parfois fragiles. La lecture actuelle – suivie par les grandes traductions contemporaines dans les langues vernaculaires – ne repose finalement que sur une sorte de coup de force réalisé au XVIe siècle pour faire passer une lecture assez minoritaire et qui s’oppose à toute la tradition. La raison précise de ce choix est assez obscure, et mériterait une véritable histoire de la réception de ce verset paulinien.

|a ABSTRACT Why do current critical reconstructions of the Greek text of Rom 5:1 read ἔχομεν and not ἔχωμεν? Without a detour into textual criticism, it is not easy to perceive how fragile the phil- ological consensus sometimes might be. The current reading - followed by the major contem- porary translations into the vernacular languages - is ultimately based on nothing more than a coup de force performed in the sixteenth century in order to push through a rather minority reading which stands in opposition to the entire tradition. The precise reason for this choice is rather obscure, and would deserve a thorough history of the reception of this Pauline verse.
