Le Directoire pour la catéchèse affirme que nul ne peut refuser les sacrements aux personnes en situation de handicap. Dès lors, l’enjeu est de déployer une pastorale permettant à chacun d’eux, capables de stabilité affective, d’accéder au sacrement du mariage. Cela suppose un accompagnement au long de la vie conjugale, un défi de « capacitation », qui concerne en fait bien des époux ! | ||

Does it not make sense for the Church, the body of Christ, to offer to these persons the possibility of receiving the gift of marriage as a sacrament? If canon law does not explicitly forbid their marriage, would not a very restrictive interpretation of canon 1095 harm some disabled persons who are capable of living in conformity with ecclesial rules? The Catechetical Directory affirms that no one can refuse the sacraments to persons with disabilities. Therefore, the challenge is to implement an approach to pastoral ministry that allows each of them, capable of affective stability, to receive the sacrament of marriage. This implies an accompaniment throughout married life and a process of ’capacitation’ which in fact affects many couples. | ||
