These, nevertheless, mark only the beginnings of a much needed process of historiographical re-orientation. This article discusses various models which might develop global perspectives of the history of Christianity without being restricted to a mere 'bookbinder's synthesis'. It deals with a succession of paradigms drawn from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. | ||
