| Summary: | The development in the Danish Church during the first years after the end of World War II must be seen against the background of the specific circumstances characterizing the special status of the occupation in Denmark. Until 1943 the official policy was to negotiate with the German occupants; this rather peaceful situation continued during the final part of the war, even if it is true that the Danish resistance movement also gained more support. The main challenges in the Danish Lutheran church in the post-war period must be seen in the light of the abovmentioned conditions. The main topics chosen for this paper are: the judicial trials against the collaborators; the ethical problems connected with defining, so long after the event, the basis for the sentences ; the treatment of the German refugees ; the Danish participation in the ecumenical dialogue; and the relation between Church and State. |
