It provides an overall view of the most important periods in the development of studies on the prophetical books from pre-critical to present-day studies. It reflects on the position occupied by the prophetical books in the Bible, on the early studies centered on the persons and their activity, on the beginning of historical and critical studies, on the problems of editing and composition, in particular in the Book of Isaiah, on the influence of G. von Rad in the theology of the prophets, on canonical interpretation with particular reference to the Twelve Prophets, and on the consequences of this development for reading the Bible today. | ||
