However, foreseeing the possibility of his being in situations that render him seriously and definitively incapable of governing the Society with the result that the common good suffers notably, the Constitutions offer solutions for these cases. In the course of time, it has seemed fitting to address situations, which may not be of extreme gravity, but in which the General may find himself permanently disadvantaged from fulfilling the tasks of his office. The 31st General Congregation (1965-66), while maintaining the lifetime character of the General’s term of office, authorized him to resign in such circumstances, after following a detailed procedure. His resignation does not take effect until it is accepted by the Society at a General Congregation. | ||
| 520 | |a De acuerdo con las Constituciones de la Compañía de Jesús, el cargo de su Prepósito General es vitalicio. Ellas prevén la posibilidad de que éste pueda encontrarse en situaciones de impedimento o incapacidad grave y definitiva para gobernar, con notable daño para el bien común, y articulan soluciones apropiadas para ello. Mucho tiempo después, se ha visto la conveniencia de atender a situaciones no tan graves, en las que el Prepósito se encuentre en inferioridad permanente, sin llegar a ser extrema, para desempeñar las tareas de su cargo. La Congregación General 31 (1965-66), manteniendo el carácter vitalicio del cargo, concedió al Prepósito la facultad de renunciar a él en tales casos, siguiendo para ello un procedimiento detallado. La renuncia no produce efecto alguno, si no es aceptada por la Compañía en la Congregación General. | ||
