| Summary: | A fundamental affirmation of Second Vatican Council is the call of all humanity to salvation and union with Christ (LG 3). In postconciliar times, much has been written about the significance of this universal salvation, the possibility of condemnation, the doctrine of apocatastasis, the unique and universal mediation of Christ, and the possibility of the salvific activity of the Holy Spirit being wider than that of Christ. This article takes into consideration the Council documents, Scripture and Tradition, and explains and discusses some of these recenttheological developments. Una afirmación fundamental del Concilio Vaticano II es la llamada de todos los hombres a la salvación y a la unión con Cristo (LG 3). Desde este Concilio, la teología ha discutido sobre el significado de esta salvación universal, la posibilidad de condenación, la doctrina de la apocatástasis, la mediación única y universal de Cristo, y la posibilidad de una presencia salvadora del Espíritu más amplia y universal que la de Cristo. Este artículo, partiendo de los textos conciliares, a la luz de la Escritura y la tradición teológica, expone y discute algunos de estos desarrollos teológicos recientes. |
