This article expands the conversation by comparing Chemnitz's public confession to the homiletical aspect of his public ministry as both treat Christological topics. Juxtaposing the Formula of Concord's Christological content with the Christological proclamation found in Chemnitz's postils reveals the continuity that his preaching and public confession show in their doctrinal frameworks, appeals to scripture, polemics, and purpose. Ultimately, all of these commonalities witness to a common theme of Chemnitz's entire pastoral ministry: his conviction that Christology is finally in service to the gospel. | ||
