While the small size of this community may explain why the fate of the jews of Luxembourg has so far failed to attract sholoarly attention, the significant documentary material allows us to make a detailed reconstruction of events and may serve as an example of the Final Solution in Western Europe. Moreover, the events in Luxembourg relate not only to the fate of the local jewish communitiy, but also to Nazi policy towards the non-jewish population in areas annexed to the Third Reich.
