Описание
Итог:Any survey of the development of religious thought and life during a series of years must include the study of preaching, since it is through the oral expression of truth that Christian groups especially depend for the expansion of faith and life. The wide field and the great variety of material, in spite of the fact that relatively so few of the thousands of sermons preached every week survive, make the study complicated and the report necessarily fragmentary. There are certain specific tendencies, however, which are clearly defined, and these President Davis of the Chicago Theological Seminary has undertaken to interpret. The impression must remain after reading the study that the pulpit is alert to the movements of the community mind and that it is honestly attempting to express a workable body of truth for the men and women who must find religion the principal "truth by which we live."
