Cet article reprend et précise les analyses existantes sur le sujet en montrant que des considérations théoriques et thérapeutiques, complémentaires mais plus fondamentales, doivent aussi être prises en compte. La clinique galénique se laisse ainsi analyser sur trois niveaux, comme performance publique, comme procédé théorique, puis comme activité pratique dépendant des aptitudes et dispositions de chaque malade. | ||
| 520 | |a Galen built his fame on a series of stunning diagnoses in which he takes a very top-down approach to the doctor-patient relationship and leaves little room for questioning. This has often been interpreted as a way to assert his skills and authority in the competitive context of imperial medical practice. This paper refines existing analyses on the topic, showing that there are other more fundamental reasons for this, from both a theoretical and therapeutic point of view. Galen’s clinical practice is thus studied on three different levels : as a public performance, as a theoretical procedure, and as a practical activity depending on the aptitudes and dispositions of each patient. | ||
