Une nouvelle théorie propose en effet qu'Odon n'écrivit pas la Vita prolixior prima mais seulement la Vita brevior du saint (BHL 3412), moins détaillée, et que la Vita prolixior prima fut forgée au début du XIe s. par Adémar de Chabannes, à partir de la Vita brevior. Contre ces hypothèses, le présent article recentre l'attention sur les nombreux liens existant entre les écrits authentiques d'Odon et les éléments de la Vita prolixior prima qui sont absents de la Vita brevior. La diversité et la subtilité de ces liens prouvent que la Vita prolixior prima n’est pas un faux mais bien une oeuvre authentique d'Odon. | ||
