But Calvin the religious exile and pastor, the architect of the most creative church order to come out of the Reformation, an ecumenically minded founder of the Reformed tradition: these are images of the reformer which may combine attention to the historical reality with relevance for Calvin's heirs today. This article brings to light some fruits of recent scholarship, with an eye to reintroducing forgotten aspects of Calvin and his ministry.
