Description
Summary:The most important corpus of glazed pottery in the Levant has been discovered in late Bronze age levels from Ugarit and Minet el-Beida (Syria). The typological study of the vases was completed with an archaeological study. The most frequent shape is a pedestal bottle with a short narrow neck. The clay bodies are made up with a marl clay ; they are covered with a blu«— g*«en calcoalkaline glaze coloured by copper and iron oxides. All the samples analysed showed the same technological characteristics. The results of this study lead us to consider the possibility that the ceramics were produced locally.
