Similar monuments can be found in other sites in Syria and in the Euphrates Valley. Most of them date from the first centuries AD. However, this architectural tradition in relation to funeral practices can be found also in Arabia, in the latter centuries before the Christian Era, in Mleiha, Qaryat al-Fau and Petra. The distribution of these monuments provides us with some light on their origin, and witnesses the common roots of some human communities which settled on the borderlands of the Arabian desert in the latter centuries BC.
