Frei Gaspar do Casal, OESA (1510-1584), foi, a par de Frei Francisco Foreiro, um dos religiosos portugueses que mais se distinguiu, numa das fases do Concílio de Trento, nos debates acerca do sacramento da Eucaristia. Uma das obras que deu nesse período uma particular popularidade a este membro da Ordem de S. Agostinho intitulou-se De Coena et Calice Domini, a qual dedicou ao Sumo Pontífice, Pio IV. No presente trabalho, este académico aborda, de igual modo, a perspetiva relacional deste antigo bispo de Leiria com a oficina tipográfica liderada por Ziletti, na cidade de Veneza, onde ele fez dar à estampa alguma das suas mais conhecidas obras teológicas. Together with Fr. Francis Foreiro, Fr. Gaspar do Casal, OESA (1510-1584) was one of the Portuguese religious men that most distinguished himself during one of the stages of the Council of Trent in debates about the sacrament of the Eucharist. One of the works in this period that gave particular popularity to this member of the Order of St. Augustine was De Calice Coena et Domini, which he dedicated to the Supreme Pontiff, Pius IV. In the present work, this academic addresses likewise the relational perspective of this former bishop of Leiria with the printing press led by Ziletti in the city of Venice, where he printed some of his best known theological works. |
