A meu ver, esta hegemonia inaciana deve-se, em boa medida, às rotinas do métier de l’historien, demasiado dependente das fontes escritas, privilegiando, por conseguinte, os agentes e os processos que deixaram vestígios escritos. Um dos efeitos destas práticas do historiador é a construção de uma paisagem histórica que, a muitos níveis, é distorcida, e onde – por exemplo –, a experiência de outras ordens religiosas se torna praticamente invisível. Neste artigo, apresento alguns exemplos franciscanos com o intuito de defender a necessidade de alternativas metodológicas que nos permitam oferecer, no futuro, uma visão mais rica sobre a presença de outros agentes religiosos na construção do império português, mas também das cristandades indianas. | ||
| 520 | |a The literature about the role of religious orders in the Portuguese imperial experience at India is mainly about the Jesuit agency. This fact is mainly due, in my view, to some of the routines of the metier de l’historien, too dependent on written sources, and therefore, privileging the agents and processes that left written traces. In the concrete case of the Portuguese imperial experience, one of the effects of these research practices is the construction of a historical landscape that is distorted in many ways, and where – for example –, the experience of other religious orders becomes invisible. In this article, I discuss some Franciscan examples in order to argue for the need of methodological alternatives (albeit if impressionistic) that will allow, in the long term, a richer view of these historical processes and recover the presence of other religious agents in the construction of the Portuguese empire and of the Indian Christianity. | ||
