This article argues that while Pomponazzi and his colleagues are likely to have been the decree's primary antagonists, Apostolici regiminis is not a dogmatic declaration on immortality but rather a dogmatic condemnation of the so-called doctrine of the double truth. Building upon this notion, the article proposes certain revisions to the traditional understanding of the decree and its historical context. | ||
