520 |a JTS MS 9560 contains a unique version of the Passover Haggadah. It is an exemplar of the ancient Palestinian Passover liturgy that contains less material than the thrice-published text of MS CJS (Dropsie) and seems to be an early recension of that rite. MS JTS exemplifies a living tradition of scribal practices, especially orthography. As such, it is an indicator that certain scribal peculiarities, thought to be witnesses to the survival of ancient manuscript traditions, were in active use in non-scholastic circles in the 10th/11th centuries. The manuscript is also significant from codicological and bibliographical perspectives, for it is among the earliest of Hebrew paper codices to come down to us. A transcription of the text annotated with attention to linguistic phenomena and to other Palestinian versions follows.
