This study brings the discourse of enhancement into dialogue with the locus of healing in Calvin Besser werden, schöner werden, leistungsfähiger werden! Selbstoptimierung liegt im Trend. Was haben Theologie und Kirche dazu zu sagen? Sollen sie den Mahnfinger heben und ein kulturpessimistisches Lied anstimmen?Oder sie könnten eigene Ressourcen aktivieren, die das Potential der diskursiven Kompatibilität mit Selbstverbesserungsphänomenen aufweisen.Dies versucht die vorliegende Arbeit und bringt den Enhancement-Diskurs aus Bioethik und Biomedizin in gegenwartshermeneutischer Absicht mit dem reformierten Lokus der Heiligung am Beispiel von Johannes Calvin ins Gespräch.Sie vertritt dabei die These, dass die Stärke und Aktualität von Calvins Theologie im Zusammendenken von Anspruch und Entlastung liegen. Sie wertschätzt die – auch verbessernde – Leistung des Menschen und kann dieselbe gleichzeitig als vollendet durch Gottes Wirken wissen |
