520 |a The purpose of this study was to see if the profiles of 44 Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) presidents and 55 Lilly Fellows Program Network of Colleges and Universities (LFN) presidents differed from the national American Council on Education's (ACE) profile of 2,594 American college presidents. Profiles of 44 CCCU presidents and 55 LFN presidents were developed using data from the American Council on Education's data base of responses for the 2,594 presidents collected in 2001. The responses of these two subsets of presidents to 37 questionnaire items were then compared to the responses for the 2,594 presidents. Some of the major differences found between the larger group and the two smaller Christian college samples included: (1) far fewer Christian college women and minority presidents; (2) longer average years in office for the Christian presidents; (3) more Christian college presidents holding their highest degrees in other than the field of education; (4) faculty were seen as the Christian college presidents' greatest challenge, more so than the presidents' in the larger sample; and (5) Christian institution presidents appeared to spend considerably more time in planning and fund-raising duties than the population of presidents in general. Four recommendations are made for further research on the Christian college and university president.
