Til tross for at latinskolen var den viktigste presteutdanningsinstitusjonen på 1500-tallet, ble den ikke en ren kirkeskole. Jeg argumenterer mot oppfatninger om at skolen forandret seg lite, og at reformasjonen virket negativt inn på den. Tvert om viser jeg at latinskolene ble utbygd og fikk stor betydning for implementeringen av selve trosskiftet. Jeg argumenterer også for at skolene i Norge kunne være tjent med sentralstyringen. | ||
| 520 | |a The article explores the development of the only state-financed school in Norway in the 16th century, the Latin school. Change and continuity with the corresponding Catholic, medieval school is discussed, and transferring structural power from the church to the king is highlighted as the most important change. Most Lutheran priests were educated at the Latin schools at the time, but the institution was no longer a mere church school. I argue against historians claiming that the Latin school hardly developed in the 16th century, and that the Reformation affected the school negatively. I document that the number of Latin schools grew, and that they were a key factor for the implementation of the Reformation. It is probable that the Norwegian schools profited from governmental control. | ||
