The format, which is in accord with international y accepted standards used in language typology, facilitates dialogue between Hebrew studies and general linguistics, and hence allows both disciplines to contribute more substantially to each other., There is of course variation in both glossing methods and its application to any particular language. The present paper therefore explains some of the variations in the format and more importantly, important variations in the understanding of Tiberian Hebrew. The paper is not intended as an analysis of Tiberian Hebrew from a typological perspective; rather, it presents the principles of typological glossing and their application to Tiberian Hebrew. Readers who choose to adopt such a format need to adapt it to their theoretical perspectives and pedagogical requirements.
