Description
Summary:This article deals with the position and status of the characters in Shimon Ballas' literary works, with their relations to the center, with their means of struggling against the canon, and with the results of that struggle. In other words, the article will follow their attempts to move from duality, otherness, and marginality to the center. All the major characters in Ballas' literary works move from one reality to another. This transition creates dual identities for them, strengthening their feelings of otherness and difference while stimulating their need for a process of acceptance. This process turns them into anti-heroes or failed heroes.
