Les quatre textes éclairent un aspect du militantisme huguenot du début des troubles de religion. Dans le contexte de la Conjuration d’Amboise, les huguenots développent une rhétorique diffamatoire qui s’appuie également sur les grands thèmes du calvinisme tels que la quête du Salut ou la critique de la papauté. Les magistrats sont désormais très attentifs à la production et à la circulation de pamphlets et d’imprimés dans leur ville. | ||
| 520 | |a In Nantes, on the night of May 6, 1560, vicious pamphlets were affixed to the doors of the homes of the city’s four chief judicial officers. This episode has long been known to historians, although the content of the texts, known as the “placards of Nantes”, remained unknown. The four texts shed light on an aspect of Huguenot militancy at the beginning of the religious troubles. They show that in the context of the conspiracy of Amboise, the Huguenots develop a defamatory rhetoric which also built on the great themes dear to the Calvinists. From then on, royal officers became very attentive to the production and circulation of pamphlets and printed books in their city. | ||

Diese Episode war den Historikern zwar bekannt, der Inhalt der sogenannten „Plakate von Nantes“ war jedoch unbekannt. Die vier Texte erhellen einen Aspekt der hugenottischen Militanz in der Frühphase der Religionskämpfe. Im Zusammenhang mit der Verschwörung von Amboise entwickeln die Hugenotten eine diffamierende Rhetorik, die an die großen Themen des Calvinismus wie die Heilsfrage oder die Kritik am Papst anknüpft. Die Richter beobachteten seither die Herstellung und Verteilung von Flugschriften und anderer Drucksachen in ihrer Stadt besonders genau. | ||
